Kentucky Repossession Service

Professional Vehicle Recovery across the Bluegrass State

Speedy Repo has been involved in complete repossession for Kentucky locations for over 12 years, recovering for every one of the state’s 4.5 million citizens across 40,408 square miles of land area in a uniquely dynamic region of the U.S. and market. We know the lay of the land and the inherent challenges in vehicle recovery across the Bluegrass region, from the hustle and bustle of urban Louisville streets to the winding roads of the eastern coalfields, and everywhere else in between.

Kentucky’s economy offers traditional agriculture and manufacturing along with the potential unknowns of dispossessed vehicles. As a result, we have recovered everything from thoroughbred horse trailers valued in the six figures to coal laundering equipment that has sometimes required access be made in challenging and remote areas of Kentucky’s Appalachian Mountains. We have handled recoveries through the major traffic during Derby season at Churchill Downs in Louisville, and recovered vehicles in flooded areas along the Ohio River, and even recovered vehicles just across the Kentucky line from Bowling Green near the Corvette plant, and everything then some in between.

Kentucky Expertise and Operations advantage

Speedy Repo’s operational base in Louisville gave us an unrivaled home base to gain experience in three distinctly different areas of recovery for Kentucky: Appalachian mountain access, agricultural machinery, and bourbon industry assets. Conqueror of Mountains: The mountain communities of Eastern Kentucky are home to specific equipment and required local resources. We have working relationships with local tow companies in Pikeville and Hazard for locations we can’t access with our standard fleet.

Agriculture focus: Kentucky’s agriculture economy is worth $5.2 billion statewide, this means it is common for us to recover a large item of farm equipment, livestock trailer, or livestock transport vehicle. We have protocols in place so we can include recovering items from working farm without shutting down their operation. One of my favorite cases was when we recovered a $120,000 horse trailer, from a racehorse facility in Lexington, during their morning training period.

Our Bourbon and Distillery Industry experience: Kentucky produces 95% of the world’s supply of bourbon. This means there are many specialized asset classes that we are periodically asked to recover. Examples of these recoveries include: distillery equipment, vintage bourbon transport trucks, and custom built rickhouses. Our team is familiar with the security procedures and protocols when working at bourbon related facilities like Maker’s Mark and Wild Turkey.

Kentucky-Focused Services

Standard Vehicle Recovery: Based on repossession specialties, we know the majority of recoveries will be for a Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, or Toyota Camry, all manufactured in Georgetown, KY. We understand what it takes to get the vehicle recovered in the middle of downtown Louisville work at 7PM or even in the middle of rural Kentucky road recovery along all 78,000 miles of rural road in Kentucky.

Everything Sport/Leisure Vehicle Repossessions: Because of the lakes and outdoor recreation, recreational vehicle ownership is high in Kentucky. We have recovered multiple Class A motorhomes from campgrounds at Lake Cumberland, as well as travel trailers from statewide resorts near Mammoth Cave area, and have learned to suggest no activity around new years to give us access until the water level has subsided. Commercial Equipment Recovery: We recover commercial vehicles and specialized equipment, from UPS Worldport in Louisville to coal mining operations in eastern Kentucky. Also during this time, we’ve recovered several types of delivery trucks, mining conveyor equipment, and farm equipment (from tobacco farms in western KY).

Specialized Asset Recovery: Kentucky-specific – thoroughbred horses, bourbon production equipment, coal mining machinery. We have specialized transportation capabilities and insurance coverage for high-value agricultural and industrial assets.

Statewide Coverage Strategy

Our Kentucky operation covers the 120 counties in Kentucky through physical positioning or partnerships with locals. Primary coverage begins from Louisville, where our headquarters is located, but our Kentucky recovery team with secondary field operations in the next best places – Lexington and Bowling Green to serve the areas greater in a metropolitan way for the Bluegrass region and south central Kentucky.

METROPOLITAN WORK: Louisville Metro (Jefferson County), Lexington-Fayette, Bowling Green, Owensboro, Covington-Newport, Henderson, Hopkinsville, Paducah, Richmond, Elizabethtown, etc. These cities are also where most our work is completed (65%) and require metropolitan recovery skills.

Coordination Among States: Kentucky’s seven surrounding states all could result in very complex jurisdictional situations. To help coordinate our recovery services we are communicating with recovery services in Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee, Missouri, Illinois, West Virginia, and Virginia. Our communication with these states is mainly related to the recovery of assets that have moved across the Ohio River bridges or have moved through the Cumberland Gap.

Kentucky Legal and Compliance

State Specific Procedure: Kentucky is more than willing to comply with self-help repossession claims provided they comply with KRS Chapter 355 (Uniform Commercial Code). Similar to Tennessee, Kentucky is going to require written notice to be provided to the debtor and has a very specific redemption period, which is 15 days. We keep certified mail proof for all recoveries in Kentucky.

Counties Specific Procedures: Jefferson County (Louisville) has its own kjokie to send for additional documentation if the vehicle is recovered inside of city limits- this sort of requirement may not happen in all counties. We have found some counties, like Breathitt and Owsley Counties are looking for someone to notify the local sheriff’s departments informally. We have also developed county specific procedures for our Kentucky operations in based on 12 years of our conducting business in the region.

Professional Licensing: Speedy Repo is a licensed recovery agent in Kentucky through the Department of Financial Institutions and carries specific liability coverage in the amount of 2 million dollars for Kentucky operations. Speedy Repo has voluntarily had our records audited by the state for the past eight years; we have had no violations in our compliance records.

Unique Procedures for Kentucky: The agricultural lien is very unique situation for recovery of farm assets. We have developed unique procedures for repossession of assets which are subject to commercial liens as well as agricultural liens in which we have to work in that specific Kentucky agricultural mediation program.

We have a performance record of 94.7% first-attempt recovery rate on a statewide basis with a mean response time of 2.8 hours statewide. Speedy Repo has established our Kentucky operation and maintained a record of 99.2% client satisfaction over the past 12 years and have led to our successful recovery of in excess of 15,000 recovery of repossession assets including high-dollar thoroughbred assets and very specific mining equipment.
