Virginia allows Speedy Repo to have extensive repo experience from the Blue Ridge Mountains where the winter weather and winding mountain roads require specific recovering skills, to the Tidewater region with flooded out areas where timing and coalition data are critical to vehicle recovery with the weather as unpredictable as it is; then there are protocols for all the seasons of Virginia; we have devised and perfected challenges associated with Virginia, such as hurricane preparedness along the coast and snow or ice procedures in the mountainous western portions of the state.
Virginia’s country farmers are a big economic part of Virginia, in particular the Shenandoah Valley and Southside Virginia, and Speedy Repo has had extensive experience with agricultural equipment recovery, and uniquely with errors in judgment and recovery of harvesting equipment at an opportune time during a growing season. We know the ins-and-outs of Virginia’s farms for tobacco, corn, and livestock, and coordinate recoveries of this nature to minimize any disruption to their established farming operations. Virginia Area Work History:
Military Base Work Experience: Virginia is home to a significant number of military bases and installations, requiring many service protocols to be able to do recovery work along with working with the military chain of command and their deployment schedule. We remain current with DOD clearance and work access in our role with a few military installations, as our team has completed recoveries of service members’ vehicles while still using the military commands and protocol for the recoveries.
Northern Virginia Traffic Recovery: Additionally, I-495 Beltway and the I -66 corridor have some of the worst traffic congestion in the nation. To assist with recovery projects, we created time based recovery plans knowing and utilizing the rush hour periods, HOV lane restrictions and well-timed departures due to Virginia’s traffic congestion. We leverage traffic analysis to assist with local dispatchers finding the best recovery time which can save 1-2 hours of a normal process.
Chesapeake Bay Watercraft Recovery: Virginia is by nature a water-living state with significant resources for us to recover watercraft in ett areas, which we have experience with through the course of time. We have all the specialized equipment to facilitate recovery of watercraft from the various marine areas in Hampton Roads and Northern Neck. Last winter we recovered a large 40 foot sportfisher from a private dock in Virginia Beach (while the weather was changing with a nor’easter coming onshore), which illustrates we can recover anything safely and in a secure way.
Physical access in Rural Mt Areas to Recovered Routes: The counties in the western area of Virginia need 4W access and knowledge of private roads and seasonal closures. We have relationships with local tow services in the different areas such as Bath County and Highland County and are able to arrive at the remote property in a timely manner due to bad weather conditions. Virginia Recovery Services
Comprehensive Vehicle Recovery: We have a large range of vehicle types in Virginia with everything from luxury vehicles in Fairfax County to pickup trucks scattered throughout Virginia’s rural areas. Our understanding of regions and the vehicles in them includes understanding agricultural regions and the trucks they use, to the environmentally conscious communities in Northern Virginia where hybrids make up the majority of the vehicle mix.
Recreational Vehicles: Virginia’s outdoor recreational culture breeds RV ownership, particularly in regions near Shenandoah National Park and Virginia Beach. We have experience recovering Class A motorhomes, travel trailers, and all types of camping gear across all types of campgrounds and RV Parks throughout Virginia.
Federal Fleet Repossessions: With our security clearance, we are authorized to complete federal vehicle recoveries, including GSA fleet vehicle recoveries and contractor government property recoveries. We have all of the necessary documentation process in place to account for the unique challenges of completing repossessions of government property.
Marine Asset Recovery: We have recovered a wide range of watercraft in Virginia from chartered boats on Chesapeake Bay to fishing vessels on the James River. We have recovered everything from personal watercraft to commercial fishing boats. Our marine recovery team takes into account Virginia’s tidal effects and weather when developing a plan for a successful water-based recovery.
Agricultural Equipment: Virginia is known for its diverse farming base which requires a level of understanding for the type of farming equipment being recovered, as well as the time of the year for a successful recovery. We have recovered everything from John Deere combines in the Shenandoah Valley to tobacco harvesting equipment in Southside Virginia and making any attempt to schedule the recoveries around the farming schedule. Commercial Construction Recovery: Ongoing growth and expansion projects in Virginia, especially in Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads, have created an unprecedented amount of experience with construction equipment recovery, including cranes, excavators, and various other construction equipment from live jobs; the commercial construction industry is alive and well.
Statewide Recovery Coverage
In Virginia, we have developed a coverage plan that extends to most of the state, by strategically positioning ourselves in the major markets within the state. For example, our coverage for Northern Virginia, is based out of our location in Fairfax where we serve Arlington, Alexandria, Loudoun, and Prince William counties. Our Richmond operations serve Central Virginia, Henrico, Chesterfield, and counties in the surrounding area. Our City of Hampton provides coverage for the Hampton Roads market; City of Hampton also provides recovery coverage throughout Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, and up the Peninsula.
Virginia’s interstate system provides us with a great deal of flexibility of coverage and enables us to cover the state effectively via the I-95 (Richmond to DC corridor), I-64 (Richmond to Norfolk) ,and I-81 (Shenandoah Valley) corridors, where we are effectively positioned along these two major highways with recovery vehicles to minimize response times. Our rural covers extend throughout Virginia, where we can serve all 95 counties, and we currently have a great deal of knowledge accessing properties along the state’s numerous rural state roads and privately owned farm and agricultural roads.
Weather impacts our Virginia operations in a very large way. During hurricane season the Virginia coast needs to be prepared and coordinate any evacuations due to high winds and flooding. A recovery in the winter during mountain operations are also very site specific to locations in Bath County, Highland County and other mountainous geography. When conducting recoveries in these areas of Virginia, we also have to take into consideration weather and the different types of equipment and timing to conduct the recovery.
Virginia Legal Compliance Expertise
Virginia is one of two states that requires strict compliance to self-help remedy procedures in the Code, Virginia Code § 8.9A-609. We remain up to date on the state-specific ten (10) day right of redemption and the notice requirements for both the borrower and lienholder. Everything we do has been designed for compliant recovery operations that will satisfy the requirement for peace maintenance under Virginia statute.
Although the Commonwealth of Virginia does have county-by-county recording criteria there is a lot of care taken to adhere to the local approach as it relates to the role of the local clerk. We also maintain professional relationships with the clerk offices in all ninety-five (95) counties and thirty-eight (38) independent cities to ensure appropriate UCC and lien documentation filings. This local knowledge often proves critical in addressing intricate title issues and jurisdictional matters that emerge during recovery.
We strictly adhere to the state’s professional licensing obligations as per Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation. We hold each required $50,000 surety bond along with maintaining liability insurance coverage that exceeds the state minimums. We have enjoyed a full and compliant record with zero violations in over 8,000 successful Virginia recoveries since 2019.
Feedback from consumers in Virginia is also important to us and we have had zero complaints with the Virginia Attorney General’s office despite having conducted thousands of minor and complex recoveries throughout the Commonwealth.
Virginia’s location in relation to multiple states, particularly Maryland, West Virginia, and North Carolina, often triggers interstate consideration and coordination with vehicles crossing into designated territories, while we maintain current knowledge of all reciprocity agreements, notice requirements and procedures in our interstate recovery operations.
In our Virginia operations we have a 94.7% successful recovery rate with an average response time of 2.3 hours across the state. Since entering the Virginia marketplace over twelve (12) years ago we have conducted in excess of 15,000 successful recoveries while maintaining zero complaints with the Virginia Attorney General’s office.
Our state operations are available 24-7 across the Commonwealth, including emergency response for time sensitive recoveries. Our dispatch center also monitors conditions on all major highways and weather events in Virginia, anticipating optimal recovery opportunities and safety.
We are members of professional organizations in Virginia including the Virginia Recovery Agents Association and Virginia Bankers Association where we remain current with industry best practices and awareness of regulatory developments affecting Virginia operations.
